MOULD REMOVAL, REMEDIATION AND TESTING

COVID CLEANING AND DISINFECTION

If performing renovations in any property that was constructed before 1985, you should have a professional test the building materials as part of your planning.

TYPICAL ASBESTOS REMOVAL :

  • Wrap on boiler pipes or on duct work

  • Transite board or transite siding

  • Vermiculte insulation in attics or walls

  • Texture coat on ceilings or walls

  • Plaster ceilings and walls

  • Drywall compound

  • Floor tile and vinyl sheet flooring

Mould can be any colour and has the potential to be harmful to your health.

Mould can affect people of all ages in different ways.

Mould requires  3 things to grow;

an organic food source, moisture and warm air.

When all of these factors are present it can take as little as 24 to 48 hours to appear.

If you have "dormant" mould  moisture and warmth will make it active very quickly.

  • What is asbestos?
Asbestos is the name given to a group of naturally occurring minerals that are resistant to heat and corrosion. Asbestos has been used in products, such as insulation for pipes (steam lines for example), floor tiles, building materials, and in vehicle brakes and clutches. Asbestos includes the mineral fibers chrysotile, amosite, crocidolite, tremolite, anthophyllite, actinolite and any of these materials that have been chemically treated or altered. Heavy exposures tend to occur in the construction industry and in ship repair, particularly during the removal of asbestos materials due to renovation, repairs, or demolition. Workers are also likely to be exposed during the manufacture of asbestos products (such as textiles, friction products, insulation, and other building materials) and during automotive brake and clutch repair work. • How do you remove asbestos?
Asbestos abatement and mould remediation pose serious health issues and need to be carefully removed using special procedures. Therefore, make sure to hire a company with technicians who are professionally trained with industrial knowledge and bear the designations of regulatory bodies.
  • Can bleach remove mould?
Bleach only removes the color from the mould and does not penetrate the surface. So for a short time, it is gone however it will return. The affected material needs to be entirely removed under proper conditions by a professional.uestion go to app settings and press "Manage Questions" button.
  • How harmful is asbestos?
Asbestos is only harmful when inhaled, and a one-time small dose is not harmful. However, asbestos is toxic in small doses over a long period of time. Like asbestos, vermiculite is something that needs to be removed only by professionals.
  • What types of mould are dangerous?
Black mould is the most common mould we hear about. But people react differently to various types and colors of mould. Any color or type of mould should be removed and post that air quality should be tested to ensure a safe living environment.
  • Do I have to hire a professional to remove asbestos?
Suspicious asbestos-containing material and mould should not be touched and must be removed carefully without endangering the lives of its residents. For this reason, it is imperative to hire asbestos and mould remediation companies with certified professionals trained to handle hazardous materials.
  • What is regulation 278/05?
Regulation 278/05 under Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) applies to every building in which Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) is present. This regulation states that the asbestos abatement company shall take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of both those doing the work and others outside the work area. They must follow protective measures to control asbestos exposure. The control measures include requirements such as isolation, signage, training, personal protective equipment, decontamination facilities, work procedures, etc.
